Government of Macao

The Government of Macao is the administrative body responsible for the governance of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) of China. Established on December 20, 1999, following the transfer of sovereignty from Portugal to China, the Government of Macao operates under the principle of 'one country, two systems.' This unique framework allows Macao to maintain its own legal and economic systems, separate from those of mainland China.
