Capital reserve

A capital reserve refers to a segment of a company's reserves that is created from capital profits and not from earned profits. This reserve is generally used for specific, long-term financial purposes such as funding a major expansion, covering significant debt obligations, or other large-scale financial commitments. Unlike revenue reserves, capital reserves are usually retained for strategic investments or unforeseen contingencies and are not distributed as dividends to shareholders.
